Branch Pub of the Year
Every year we ask our members what they regard as an outstanding Pub within the Richmond & Hounslow Branch area. A list is then subsequently compiled and members asked to vote on the best three from this list. These Pubs are then visited and the final votes cast. When a winner is selected it is then entered as one of the twelve Greater London pubs nominated for the Greater London PotY.
Note. At our last Committee meeting there had been some discussion whether the Mitre should be 2025 or 2026 pub of the year for the branch. We had previously agreed that as part of the update to our GBG/PoTY process we would align with other branches in announcing our pub of the year in March rather than as previously at the autumn beer festival. As the beer festival is currently in hiatus this makes more sense. So the Mitre is to be our 2026 Pub of the Year. Black Dog PoTy 2024 (presented in November) to be extended to make them 2024/25 PoTy.
At our Branch meeting held on the 3rd February in the Beehive, Brentford, three pubs were shortlisted.
The short listed pubs for this year were:
* The Black Dog, Brentford
* The Mitre, Richmond
* Builders Arms, Teddington
Chris French of the Mitre, Richmond, was presented with the Pub of the Year award by Bob Gordon Branch Chairman during a Pizza Night Branch social.
