The Railway Bell, Hampton
The Railway Bell, Hampton. Robert Lee (Save The Dip Campaign) has been advised by Stonegate (the Freeholder) that Contracts have been exchanged for the sale of the pub. Stonegate have not disclosed to whom. On completion, the buyer is granting a new lease for pub use. There are plans to undertake refurbishment with the aim of reopening the pub soon, however, no reopening date has been stated.
Although an ACV is in place, suspicions have been raised that although Save The Dip Campaign should have first refusal their solicitor posits that the sale is exempt because the pub is being sold as a going concern. Robert Lee has stated the campaign group has decided not to contest the solicitor's view as raising funds to put in a bid would take time and letting the sale take its course will hopefully lead to a more speedy reopening of the pub.
